Your one liner intro is extremely important because it opens up communication with potential prospects. You have to learn to comfortably deliver it at any time with confidence.
One liners must come over as genuine. A lot of people use one liners they have been given or heard somewhere but this can be a problem because if it doesn’t sound genuine people pick up on it.
Unfortunately you have to be an excellent actor if you use someone else’s one liner if you want people to hear you. This is more likely if your one liner is your truth.
For example remember times when you were shopping. How did sales people greet you? Which of them did you relate to and which didn’t you? What was it that got your attention and what put you off? You can learn what works from every interaction if you are listening.
You can create opportunities to connect with people wherever you go and when you get the opportunity, deliver your one liner.
The one liner is like fishing bait. The hook is when they respond to you. If they don’t take the bait then don’t use the hook. Remember fish may take the bait but they aren’t always caught.
Why do we use one liners?
When someone asks “What do you do?” or something similar, then we have the opportunity to deliver our one liner. When we deliver our one liner, we want to capture their interest. We want people to ask us something. If they do then, when they respond, you want to gauge their level of genuine interest through their words, tone and body language. If you have a good feeling, then develop the possibility of setting up another meeting.
It is not unusual to have several one liners. Use the one you think best for the situation. At times this will be short and quick while at other times a longer one liner can work too. Just not too long otherwise you will lose connection.
Take every opportunity to practice your one liners. Check them out with family, friends and naturally other UnFranchise Business owners who may also learn something new from you.
Example One Liners
Let’s start with the usual question “What do you do?” Answers to this are usually something like electrician, economist, banker, salesperson, and so on. This usually kills the interaction unless someone has a particular interest in what you do at that time.
What you want is to open up possible conversations and you do that with skilfully crafted one liners. The more genuine the more likely you are to get a response you want. What you want is a one liner that begs a response, such as “How do you do that?”
Some Simple Examples
- I help people make lots of money!
- I help people save money!
- I am building my financial future!
- Earn good money while enjoying my life!
Always KEEP IT SIMPLE – Just enough to get them hooked.
These are particularly relative to the UnFranchise Business.
These statements are simple and straight forward. People always want to know more because everybody wants to make or save money. I once used “I kill people!” and they immediately asked “How?”
All you are really doing is opening up their listening with any such statement.
Once you have that listening most people will normally ask you how.
Now they are hooked you need to reel them in and this can be done in a number of ways.
